Tradesman, Electrical & Instrumentation Tech

Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for an E&I Tradesman to join their operations and maintenance team. This will be a 1-year contract in Fort St John or Dawson Creek, BC. 
 
The successful candidate will be responsible to apply their skills, experiences and aptitude to repair, install, troubleshoot and perform other planned maintenance and corrective tasks on assigned electronic, electrical, pneumatic and/or mechanical control systems, devices, and ancillary equipment. In this role, the EIC Tradesman operates and maintains natural gas compression, auxiliary equipment, and assigned equipment in a manner that meets operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.  

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: 

Perform operations, testing, repair, and maintenance on compressor station equipment, and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system as required; 

Troubleshoot, test, & maintain shutdown devices, fire & gas systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, control valves, PLC’s & control systems; 

Operate, calibrate, and maintain custody transfer measurement equipment such as FC’s, ultrasonic meters, analyzers, and Gas Chromatographs. 

Lock out of equipment and working in collaboration with area trades and contractors; 

Recognition and reporting of abnormal and safety related operating conditions including accident and near miss reporting as well as emergency response involvement. Safe work permitting and contract management during maintenance activities; 

Assistance in the review, implementation, and commissioning of capital infrastructure, and installation of new instrumentation and electrical equipment; 

Complete assigned preventative maintenance of stations and sites to ensure all maintenance is completed to predetermined schedules supporting reliable, dependable, and efficient operations; 

Complete assignments safely, efficiently and in an environmentally conscious manner by observing generally accepted company and industry safety practices; 

Recommend improvements to Facility efficiency and optimization and follow through to completion utilizing assistance from Operations Engineering and being compliant with our MOC (Management of Change) process; 

Support area rotational on call for the facilities in the area and respond to system emergencies/unplanned outages.

Qualifications: 

Provincial Journeyman Certification in Electrical and or Instrumentation Red Seal with 5+ years’ experience is preferred; 

Experience, knowledge, and operations of gas generator equipment, gas turbines, high pressure pipeline operation and compressor station operations; 

Strong knowledge of PLC’s, RTU’s, VFD’s along with other analytical and instrumentation equipment associated with pipeline operations; 

Experience using SAP Maintenance Management highly desirable; 

Highly motivated with interpersonal skills to effectively work in a collaborative team environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, support team and company objectives, and a willingness to work in all areas as required; 

Some knowledge of communication systems would be an asset; 

Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, SAP and other business-related computer programs and applications; 

Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication; 

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License; and 

Safety Courses: TDG, H2S Alive, First Aid would be an asset, but if incomplete, will be provided to the successful candidate.
