No County Greene Street Address County Route 18 City Haines Falls State NY Zip Code 12436 Duties Description The incumbent is responsible for construction and repairs at DEC campgrounds and other facilities on State Lands in Region 4. Responsibilities include: Perform journey-level plumbing/carpentry with a general knowledge of electrical/masonry and building code regulations. Will be required to abate all aspects of fire and safety violations. Will be required to diagnose and repair framing, roofing, masonry foundations, electrical systems, plumbing, water and sewer systems, motors, pumps, boilers, water heaters, HVAC, septic systems, lift stations and grinder pumps. Must have a basic knowledge of heavy equipment operation. This position will require traversing steep and uneven terrain while carrying equipment and tools. Incumbent should be capable of long hikes to remote work locations. Incumbent will be responsible for supervising subordinate staff. Procurement of supplies and materials, obtain quotes for various projects and prepare purchase requisitions. Overtime and weekend availability is required. Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.Must be able to work in remote areas.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required.Overtime may be required.
