Job Duties and Other Information
JOB DUTIES:
+ INSTALL, MAINTAIN AND REPAIR SINGLE AND THREE PHASE ELECTRICAL SERVICES INCLUDING STEP-DOWN TRANSFORMERS, SERVICE PANELS AND SERVICE CONNECTIONS.
+ TROUBLESHOOT, INSTALL AND REPAIR ELECTRIC MOTORS AND RELATED MOTORS, STARTERS, RELAYS AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS AND CONTROLS ON ALL OF THE DISTRICT’S FACILITIES INCLUDING ALL OF THE BRIDGE SPAN DRIVE MOTORS, BRIDGE SPAN LOCKS AND BREAK MOTORS, HYDRAULIC AND WATER PUMP MOTORS, TRAFFIC GATE MOTORS AND SELSYN SENDING AND RECEIVING UNITS.
+ SERVICE, TROUBLESHOOT AND REPAIR CONTROL BOARDS AND CONTROL CIRCUITS INCLUDING ELECTRICAL SPEED CONTROL, RELAYS INCLUDING PHASE FAILURE RELAYS, LIMIT SWITCHES AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENT BYPASS CIRCUITS.
+ PERFORM ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR TO ALL SYSTEMS ON THE DISTRICT’S MOVABLE AND STATIONARY BRIDGES AS WELL AS THE DISTRICT’S TUNNELS, UNDERPASSES, NAVIGATION LOCKS, INCLUDING SERVICE AND REPAIR TO GENERATORS, TRANSFORMERS, ELECTRICAL SERVICE PUMPS AND ROADWAY, NAVIGATION AND HOUSE LIGHTING.
+ TROUBLESHOOT, SERVICE AND INSTALL REVERSING STARTS, UNDER VOLTAGE RELAYS AND MULTI-BREAKERS, BOTH SINGLE AND THREE PHASE.
POSITION-SPECIFIC DETAILS:

Compensation:
Trades Apprentice $16.06 hourly
Electrician $19.67 hourly
Career Progression: As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Trades Apprentice or Electriciandepending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). The maximum monthly salary for the Electrician $6,136.00. Please refer to the “Job Specifications” tab located at the top of the LA Careers “Current Job Opportunities” page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts.
A valid Louisiana Class “D” Chauffeur’s License is required before appointment.
