We are offering an internship for someone who intends to be involved in a challenging trading environment, as well as project related activities.
The fast-paced trading environment requires the jobholder to be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team. The position requires strong communication skills within the team, externally and with other departments within the organisation. Both industry and contractual deadlines need to be respected to meet all of the company’s obligations. Reporting and monitoring obligations per the Dodd-Frank Act, EMIR, Sarbanes-Oxley Act and to comply with other rules & regulations require diligence and attention to detail.
ActivitiesAs part of the Global Trading Support organisation, the jobholder is part of a team that is an integral part of the trading floor based in Geneva and is also supporting the trading functions in Houston and Singapore.
The team works closely with the Traders, Operations, Originators, Middle Office, Energy Data Management, Legal & Compliance, Credit, Treasury, Trading Accounting and the IT teams.
Key responsibilities:
Assist in managing a portfolio of trading counterpartsEnsure daily that accurate trading information is represented within our ‘in-house’ trading system (the BOOK) by checking recap/nomination/contract/confirmation Confirm deals with counterparts and brokers on a daily basisChase and comment all outstanding confirmations on a daily basisEnsure that deals are linked to a legal contract Process and send sales invoices to counterparts, in line with contractual terms Process purchase invoices and submit payment instructions to finance in a timely manner to comply with contractual payment datesReconcile outstanding items with counterpartsAssist internally to Back Office related queries from internal and external counterparties in a timely fashionHelp with the overall team responsibilities and goals including assisting with general Back Office duties including: emailing, archiving and filing when neededSupport and testing on system developmentsParticipate in team and individual projects delegated by the Global Back Office ManagerRegular internal & external audits, and regulatory obligations Candidate Profile You are currently in a Master (Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management, Mathematics or related discipline)You have a high degree of attention to detail and ability to work under pressure You have a strong drive for results and ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment You are able to prioritise and organise daily workloadsYou are able to work within a team but also individually when necessaryYou are proactive and have good communication skillsKnowledge of energy commodity markets desirableEuropean languages desirable.
