Job Description

This role is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the organization’s export and import compliance program to ensure adherence to all applicable U.S. and international trade regulations. The position provides independent trade compliance oversight across business operations and works cross-functionally to embed effective compliance controls into procedures, processes, and work instructions. The role has the authority to independently review, investigate, and halt transactions that pose potential or confirmed compliance risks. Responsibilities also include employee training, regulatory interpretation, audits, and ongoing monitoring of compliance effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Review, prepare, and approve export and import license and permit applications.Interpret and apply export control and import regulations, maintaining current knowledge of regulatory changes.Sr. leadership on trade compliance risks and considerations related to business decisions and transactions.Partner with department leaders to ensure trade compliance controls are embedded in procedures, work instructions, forms, and tools.Proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams to prevent trade disruptions and compliance violations.Ensure accurate product classification, jurisdiction determination, and regulatory applicability.Monitor compliance activities and assess the effectiveness of internal controls.Develop, review, and approve Technology Control Plans (TCPs) and provide oversight for regulated technology transfers.Conduct due diligence reviews for transactions that present elevated compliance risk and determine the sufficiency of mitigation efforts.Identify and assess trade compliance risks within contracts, agreements, and customer requirements.Maintain accurate records and transact data within trade compliance management systems.Prepare, review, and verify export shipping documentation for non-routine or ad-hoc shipments.Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics partners to ensure regulatory compliance.Perform internal audits related to trade compliance policies, procedures, and controls.Provide periodic reporting on compliance program effectiveness, findings, and improvement opportunities.

Essential Skills

5+ years of import/export compliance experience.Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and vlookups.Experience with MRP/ERP systems.Aerospace experience is essential.ITAR Compliant.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

HTS codes, import & export classifications, and Schedule B codes.Experience in shipping and export documentation.Process improvement and trade compliance auditing.Strong interpersonal skills and a rule-driven compliance mindset.

Work Environment

The position is 100% onsite with a full-time salaried direct placement and a 9/80 work schedule. Start times are flexible between 7-8 AM. Minimal travel may be required. The work takes place in an ITAR environment. The team size is small, promoting a fast-paced culture with high accountability. The work environment is a true industrial setting with a casual dress code.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Los Alamitos, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
