Trade Compliance Director
The Director, International Trade Compliance for T&M will support all Trade Compliance activities globally for the Test & Measurement businesses and be responsible for program development, oversight and execution as it relates to Trade Compliance requirements, directives and standards. This leadership role has high visibility within T&M and global Emerson organizations. **In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:** + Promote Emerson’s purpose, causes and values autonomously while supporting the Emerson’s objectives + Autonomously enable the ethical execution of legal business opportunities, proactively mitigating risk and reducing cost + Oversee the Trade Compliance function for T&M and take responsibility for the development and management of the T&M Trade Compliance team + Directly or indirectly manage and otherwise lead a global team of compliance professionals, supporting their individual development, project management and program execution + Direct T&M ITC regional leaders to ensure that their respective Archer location records, self-assessment(s), program verification process(es), improvement plans and business profile(s) are complete and maintained + Direct T&M ITC regional leaders to ensure that each business/location has implemented the necessary operational procedures, procedural training and periodic auditing, as applicable to meet the requirements of their trade compliance program + Promote Emerson’s purpose, causes and values autonomously while supporting the Emerson’s objectives + Autonomously enable the ethical execution of legal business opportunities, proactively mitigating risk and reducing cost + Oversee the Trade Compliance function for T&M and take responsibility for the development and management of the T&M Trade Compliance team + Directly or indirectly manage and otherwise lead a global team of compliance professionals, supporting their individual development, project management and program execution + Direct T&M ITC regional leaders to ensure that their respective Archer location records, self-assessment(s), program verification process(es), improvement plans and business profile(s) are complete and maintained + Direct T&M ITC regional leaders to ensure that each business/location has implemented the necessary operational procedures, procedural training and periodic auditing, as applicable to meet the requirements of their trade compliance program + Participate in Emerson’s Regulatory Compliance strategic projects, teams and initiatives + Act as T&M’s escalation point of contact for Trade Compliance questions + Assist with investigation of suspected violations of Trade Compliance regulations or related company policies, preparation of disclosures and development of remedial measures + Collaborate with other Business Group Trade Compliance leaders to ensure transparency, provide support and help to drive Emerson’s global Regulatory Compliance goals and objectives + Collaborate with other functional areas (e.g. Legal, Finance, HR, Internal Audit, Sales, etc.) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigating and resolution consulting with Emerson management and external legal counsel as needed to resolve difficult legal Trade Compliance issues + Lead or otherwise assist in Trade Compliance-related projects and programs as applicable to T&M + Develop and manage an annual budget for trade compliance purposes + Establish appropriate KPIs to measure trade compliance operations globally **For This Role, You Will Need:** + Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in International Trade, Legal, Business, Finance or related field with relevancy to a compliance role + Excellent oral and written English language skills, other languages are an advantage + 15+ years of direct experience in a multi-national Regulatory Compliance related field + 7+ years direct experience supervising and leading people, projects and/or programs + Strong coaching & mentoring skills + Comfortable to work with senior management + Sound MS Office skills + Working knowledge of international trade compliance regulations, including Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Department of State (DoS) ITAR, etc. + Ability to travel 25%+ for success in the role **Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:** + High level understanding of T&M products, businesses and customers + Experience with Aerospace, Defense and Government industries + Working knowledge of OCR/EASE, JDE, Oracle, E2Open and TradeSphere Exporter + Knowledge of product environmental compliance regulations, including REACH, RoHS and IEC; information governance regulations including data privacy and product cyber security; knowledge of Anti-Corruption legislation and due diligence processes + Experience working in region and with local regulatory authorities **Our Culture & Commitment to You:** At Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow.
