The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Trade Assistant - Carpenter                                                                   

About the role

Reporting to the Supervisor – Maintenance Site Service The successful candidate will be mainly required to carry out maintenance work in a safe and efficient manner. The incumbent will join a dynamic team and will be required to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

Assists carry out carpentry and maintenance work at site maintenance work based on approved work orders Advise supervisors on material listings for maintenance work  Ensure proper handovers prior to leaving site for field break  Only carry out tasks that they are trained, capable and competent to safely perform  Accurately document completed tasks, materials used, and maintenance activities as required by the supervisor Work closely with team members, communicate effectively, and contribute to achieving project timelines. Undertake other tasks as directed by the Supervisor to support and maintenance objectives Uphold high standards of health and safety awareness, ensuring compliance with NPL’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all safety procedures.

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:

Minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent. Basic knowledge of Carpentering systems and tools (formal Carpentry training or certifications are advantageous). At least one (1) year of experience in a trade assistant or similar role, ideally in Building, construction, or maintenance. Ability to perform basic maintenance and repair tasks under guidance. Strong attention to detail, with good manual dexterity and the ability to handle tools safely. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately. Reliable and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic understanding of workplace health and safety standards.

Mobilization Requirement 

This is a PNG National Award position, a site-based role on a Walk in Walk out arrangement with rotation of 20 days on and 8 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). This is a non-camp position and successful candidate will find his or her own accommodations.
