Description

Performs diagnostic procedures utilizing radiation detection and imaging equipment. Provides quality care to patients of all age groups, from newborns to the elderly, in accordance with department standards. Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period.

Assesses the physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of the patient. Completes pre-, intra-, and post-procedure assessment. Informs nurse/MD of any changes in the patient's condition. Develops a plan of care for the procedure being performed, which is individualized to include specific patient problems, needs, and the scheduled procedure. Provides teaching and guidance to patients, their families, and staff members. Able to execute x-ray for desired views - abdominal aorta gram, runoff, division. Store and print images. Sets priorities for patient care based on patients' needs and available resources. Identifies and performs appropriately in emergency patient care solutions. Knows the setup and monitoring of IABP. Assists with the set-up, insertion, and care of temporary and permanent pacemakers.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: Associate degree in Radiology or equivalent, basic EKG course.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Radiology or equivalent.

Experience:

Required: 6 months in a cath lab/cardiac intervention lab.
Preferred: 1 year of experience providing cardiac cath and radiology care.

Certifications:

Required:  AHA BLS, ARRT, or RCIS certification.
Preferred: ARRT (CV), (CI) or (VI); AHA ACLS.
