**Job Description** Build, rework, repair, and assemble a wide variety of new and special purpose tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and injection molds of original design, intricate types composed of a variety of metals and plastics. Work from drawings and verbal/written instruction including developmental procedures where information is incomplete or dimensions undetermined, including design, layout and development. Support experimental development of new equipment. Perform repair and modification operations on component piece parts, assemblies, and completed production units. Perform related duties as assigned. Diagnose and correct mechanical difficulties on mechanical equipment. Repair and reassemble equipment including the reworking and/or replacement of defective mechanical components. Construct replacement parts as necessary. Fit and align parts during reassembly for optimum machine performance. Check repaired equipment through sufficient machining cycles to assure satisfactory functioning of the reconditioned equipment. Level and align equipment installations before release to manufacturing for production.
