🛠️ Tool Maintenance Team Lead

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Tool Maintenance Team Lead to oversee the maintenance, repair, and support of tooling assets within our aerospace manufacturing facility. This leadership role blends technical knowledge in tooling and equipment maintenance with operational oversight and people development. You’ll lead a highly engaged team, drive process improvements, and ensure alignment with quality, safety, and production goals.

Job Responsibilities Lead and coordinate all activities related to the maintenance, repair, and servicing of tooling used in manufacturing processes. This may include the fabrication of simple tools. Manage inventory of over 3,000 tools Work with customer facing team to retire and dispose of old and obsolete tools to reduce tool inventory by year end Reduce current backlog of work orders by disposition between design, fab, and maintenance Define and implement clear processes for the maintenance of tools to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. Develop and manage property management processes to ensure 100% tool tracking for identifying, cataloging, and locating all tooling assets. Monitor the condition and service life of tools and maintain accurate records for all Category 1 tools. Collaborate with Quality to establish and maintain processes ensuring 100% of tools are calibrated with proper documentation to meet audit and inspection requirements. Assign clear accountability for all tooling assets and ensure proper storage conditions to prevent corrosion damage and degradation. Build, coach, and develop a high-performing maintenance team that embodies our “Great Place to Work” culture and drives improved engagement scores. Contribute to the apprenticeship program to cultivate new talent and support workforce growth. Plan, schedule, and execute tooling maintenance projects to minimize production disruptions. Manage tool inventory systems to ensure availability and accuracy of all tooling assets. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to address tooling issues and implement improvements. Identify and prioritize maintenance needs based on tool condition, usage, and criticality. Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for tool failures or issues. Execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to extend tool life and increase uptime. Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards and internal quality requirements, including tool calibration and lifecycle tracking. Drive team engagement, support professional growth, and facilitate performance evaluations. Collaborate with other Team Leaders and cross-functional teams to align operational objectives and outcomes. Required Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience). 5 years of experience in tooling or facilities maintenance within a manufacturing environment (preferably aerospace). Proven leadership experience in supervising maintenance or production teams. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tooling components, and support equipment. Proficiency in CMMS systems, inventory tracking tools, and Microsoft Office. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and eligible to work with export-controlled materials under U.S. law

 

Preferred:

Experience in AS9100 or similar regulated environments. Hands-on experience with machining, welding, or fabrication tools. Experience in a unionized manufacturing setting. Project management skills Teamcenter of PDLM experience Compensation Data

Compensation Range: $85,898.00 - $128,847.00
