Tooling Manager

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in the following disciplines preferred: Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering Technology.Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Must  be highly proficient with Excel. Ability to write spreadsheets.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

Fluency with CAD/CAM software.Sounds understanding of engineering drafting principles.3+ of turbine/airfoil tooling design experience.Capture 3D inspection and analysis experience a plus.Experience in the design of turbine/airfoil mold and dies.Good verbal communication skills.Sound understanding of engineering drafting principles.Knowledge of material properties, as related to die design.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software.Ability to effectively work/communicate as part of a project team.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and activities.

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Responsibility for the overall management of tooling including the tool room and layout for the organization including the development, performance and maintenance of the tool room and stock control to produce an efficient system and delivery solution, maximizing performance, and minimizing costs against pre-agreed targets and controls. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Overall management of the tool room and layout departments including the development, performance and maintenance of tooling stock control to produce smooth and efficient system and delivery solution, maximizing performance & profitability against pre-agreed targets and control.Ensuring that the team understands the mechanism of the tool room and their role within the organization and the duties of your team.Responsibility to adhere to budgets and plan to maximize profitabilityMeet your targets and those of the team and organization as it relates to tooling managementThe smooth running of the team Contribute to training and development of the team Manage, direct, and monitor the tool room and layout department including the development, performance and maintenance of the tool room and stock control to produce an efficient system and delivery solution, maximizing performance, and minimizing costs against pre-agreed targets and controls.Effective liaison, support and assistance between Engineering, Manufacturing, and the customer.Maintain and improve mechanisms for running the tool room, including surveying, and measuring the stock levels and delivery, process, outcomes, and expenditure and disseminate feedback to the appropriate internal entitiesUtilize agreed systems to manage the tool room and stock control functions, analysis, and documentationDirect the development of plans for the tool room and layout to enable management to achieve targetsDeveloping plans for process and efficiencyReporting (content and format as agreed) monthly or as otherwise required tool status, inventory or gaps identifiedManage and maintain contact with internal and external “client/customers”Set an example for team members of commitment, work activities and process and activities, work ethics and habits and personal characterMaintain accurate records as it relates to toolingResponsibly use resources and control expenses to meet agreed budgetary controlsAdhere to all organization policies and proceduresInteract and co-operate with all members of the organization, its suppliers, and customersFrom time to time, you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role.You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your Line Manager. You must contribute towards the smooth running of the organization generally.

Provide training of EOR process and be knowledgeable of PVD process

Direct and assists in the supervision of tool & die technicians

Approve Time and Attendance

Train tool & die technicians in all operations

Coordinate work with engineering/production planning and other department supervisors and team leaders

Order steel and other supplies for tool department

Recommend new or improvements in tool equipment

Oversee and inspect quality of tool room projects

Participate in performance evaluation of tool & die technicians

Work with engineers on core die repair and die changes

Ensure completion of PM301 and Core Samples are delivered on time

Ensure company policies are followed
