Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Tool Designer to join our Howmet Casting plant in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Afternoon Shift are Monday to Friday 2:30PM-11PM Training will occur on Day Shift Monday - Friday 6:00A - 2:30P
Anticipated Pay Range: $34 - $37 per hour *Pay rates within this range are determined based on various factors including experience, education, certifications, etc.
Position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off-shift.
JOB SUMMARY This position will support Tool Room by performing Unigraphics design of new support tooling and fixtures related to NPI and/or process improvement initiatives of Production product line. This position will have primary focus around wax mold design, wax support tooling design, and core support tooling design to achieve optimal casting yield results. This position will also design, build, modify, and maintain post-cast support tooling, gauges, and fixtures.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Tool design for but not limited to design/build and/or reworks for wax pattern and core dies, gating dies, and support tooling and fixtures with a primary focus on wax and core tooling. Communicates regularly with Tooling Process Owner/Technical Director regarding design concepts and improvements. Creates 3-D solid CAD models with Siemens NX, Unigraphics to meet customer specifications. Evaluates dimensional data using 3D scanning software with the aim of improving tool design related to casting dimensional and quality results. Utilize basic engineering skills to approach problems analytically and derive sound conclusions. Creates fully annotated engineering drawing details required for manufacturing. Collaborates with Product/Process Engineering regarding design development and final approvals. Collaborates with Programmers and Die Makers to ensure the DFM considerations are achieved. Supports design for manufacturing and automation production readiness related to Product/Process Engineering ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
