This role involves responsibility in the tool room, requiring skills to repair molds, jigs, fixtures, and other tooling equipment associated with plastic injection molds and assembly of plastic products. The tooling technician will be part of a team of four, performing vital duties to ensure the smooth operation of the equipment.
ResponsibilitiesTrain personnel in the proper use of equipment.Read blueprints and use measuring instruments and mathematics to build and repair parts for broken molds, jigs, and fixtures.Maintain adequate repair supplies such as core and ejector pins, die springs, and other materials related to repairs.Modify molds, jigs, and fixtures to correct problems.Inspect and verify changes made by outside mold-making vendors to ensure work meets standards and specifications detailed in purchase and engineering change orders.Perform skilled work involving close tolerances, exceeding the competence level of a tool cleaner.Maintain records of all repairs, modifications, and inventory performed.Essential Skills2+ years of experience in plastic injection.2+ years of experience in mold or tool repair.2+ years of experience with jig and fixture.Proficiency in mold repair, die maintenance, troubleshooting, and blueprint reading.Additional Skills & QualificationsPhysically capable of walking for the entire work shift.Ability to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly.Repeated bending and lifting during the shift.Ability to wear steel-toe footwear.Adequate visual acuity for entering and revising molding press programming.Must meet requirements for forklift and crane license.Capability to exert up to 150 foot-pounds on a torque wrench.Ability to work around magnetic fields.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.70/hr.
