Tool Shop Supervisor

Job Summary

Responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of personnel in charge of maintaining and repairing various production machines, equipment and tools.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

Coordinates daily shop operation. Plan and establish work schedules and assignments to meet department goals.Communicates with mechanics as well as the Branch Manager to ensure equipment is serviced in a timely manner.Control operations costs and product quality.Interprets specifications and job orders to workers and assign duties. Works with outside sales persons to take tool repair orders and give timely estimates on when tools will be repaired.Maintains accurate documentation on all repairs. Checks in tools received for repair and enters sales orders into system. Closes repair orders in system when complete.Maintains daily communication with customers in regards to repair progress and costs.Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as employment, performance evaluations, promotions, discharges, and disciplinary measures.

Experience provides solutions.Ensures that work is performed consistently with company policies and procedures.Leads a group or team of support, craft, or lower level professional associates.

Work Environment

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
