About this Role
The Tooling / Shop Helper supports the daily operations of a construction company’s tool yard and equipment shop. This role is responsible for tracking, maintaining, and servicing tools and small equipment, assisting with inventory control, and supporting fleet and field crews as needed. The ideal candidate is highly organized, mechanically inclined, comfortable with computers, and able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment.
This position requires a valid CDL and the ability to occasionally drive company trucks.
What You'll Do Maintain, track, and organize company tools and equipmentPerform basic service, maintenance, and minor repairs on:Small engines (including 1-cylinder Honda gas engines)Chain saws and other small power equipmentHand tools and power toolsAssist with parts inventory tracking and tool checkout/check-inEnter and update information using company systems, email, and tracking toolsSupport material and tool readiness for construction crewsOperate forklifts and skid steers safely and efficientlyOccasionally drive company trucks to deliver or retrieve tools, equipment, or materialsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard environmentAdapt to changing priorities and workload demandsOther related duties and projects as assigned What You'll Bring Valid CDL (required)Experience or working knowledge of:Power tools and hand toolsSmall engines (chain saws, small gas engines)Strong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work in a fast-paced environment under changing conditionsBasic computer skills, including email and data entryWillingness and ability to learn company systems for parts and inventory trackingAbility to safely operate forklifts and skid steers (or willingness to be trained)Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving recordPrior experience in a construction shop, tool yard, or equipment yardMechanical aptitude or hands-on repair experienceForklift and/or skid steer certificationFamiliarity with fleet or tool inventory systemsSupervisory Responsibilities
