About the Role The Tool Manager is responsible for overseeing the inventory, condition, availability, and accountability of tools and small equipment used in PAR Electric’s construction and maintenance operations. This role supports safe, efficient field execution by ensuring crews have timely access to compliant, well-maintained tools while minimizing loss, downtime, and operational risk. What You'll Do What You Will Do + Manage inventory of tools and small equipment used for transmission, distribution, substation, and related electric utility work. + Issue, track, and recover tools for field crews, foremen, and project sites. + Maintain accurate records of tool assignments, inspections, repairs, calibration, and replacements using inventory tracking systems. + Perform regular inspections to ensure tools meet company standards, manufacturer requirements, and safety regulations. + Coordinate preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair of tools and small equipment. + Remove unsafe, damaged, or obsolete tools from service and arrange for repair or disposal. + Order tools, replacement parts, and supplies in accordance with company purchasing procedures and budget guidelines. + Support project mobilization and demobilization by preparing and recovering tool packages. + Conduct periodic audits and inventory counts to reduce loss, theft, and downtime. + Maintain organized, clean, and secure tool storage areas, yards, and tool rooms. + Collaborate with operations, safety, warehouse, and project teams to support schedules and crew needs. + Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and client requirements related to tool use and condition. + Travel to yards, project sites, and regional locations as needed (approximately 10–20%). + Assist with training employees on proper tool use, care, and accountability as needed. What You'll Bring What You Will Bring + High school diploma or equivalent required. + Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or other higher education in construction management, logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field may be preferred. + 3+ years of experience managing tools, equipment, warehouse operations, or materials in electric utility, construction, or industrial environments preferred. + Strong working knowledge of tools used in electric utility construction, including hand tools, power tools, specialty line tools, and testing equipment. + Understanding of safety standards and regulatory requirements related to tool inspection and use. + Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accountability. + Ability to lift, move, and handle tools and equipment (up to 50 lbs or more as required). + Proficiency with basic computer applications and inventory or asset tracking systems. + Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with field crews, supervisors, and management. + Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel 10–20% as required. + Forklift or material-handling equipment certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
