Job Title: Tool and Die Maker
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker with expertise in metal stamping tooling, assembly, tryout, and debugging of progressive and stage type punch press tooling. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to study specifications, visualize products, and determine materials required for fabricating parts.

ResponsibilitiesStudy specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to visualize the product and determine required materials.Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations.Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining.Set up and operate machines, verifying conformance of machined parts to specifications.Lift machined parts, position, and secure them on surface plates or worktables.Smooth flat and contoured surfaces using power grinders, and fit and assemble parts into assemblies and mechanisms.Verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment of members and parts in the die.Heat treat tools or parts.Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs, recommending design modifications when necessary.Develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draw or sketch designs.Dowel and bolt parts together, working to tolerances as close as thousandths.Dismantle dies and repair or replace parts.Grind, file, and sand parts for assembly to smooth and finish cavities.Assemble die or mold.Essential SkillsProficiency in tool and die making.Ability to interpret blueprints and manual machining techniques.Experience with mill and die repair.Skill in machining and lathe operations.Proven ability in repair and troubleshooting.Experience with CNC and progressive die operations.Additional Skills & QualificationsTwo-year certificate from college or technical school, or five years of related experience and/or training.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as geometry and trigonometry, applying concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in different forms.Why Work Here

Work Environment

Work in a large, well-organized sheet metal environment that includes a tool making department, quality department, and production areas. The facility is equipped with numerous machines, including press brakes, punch presses, laser/turrets, and CNC machines. While the shop is loud, it offers a structured and efficient work setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
