Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a sharp Tier 2 Network Engineer to join our growing team! In this role you will get to work closely with a talented team to assist in the design, configuration, testing, implementation and oversight of the computer networks that support our customers mission critical systems, primarily within a Juniper and Palo Alto Network environment. You will also have the opportunity to grow and sharpen your skills with other talented members of Parsons.
This role will be onsite in Boulder, Monday through Friday.
What You'll Be Doing:
Collaborate with Tier 3 network personnel in designing new network and communication solutionsWork with vendors to obtain pricing/ROMs in support of new system designs and enhancementsAutomate Juniper and Palo Alto network builds and configurationsProvide Day-to-day Tier 2 network supportServe as primary interface between Tier 1 and Tier 3 network personnelConduct and analyze data captures to obtain network performance informationAnalyze network configurations and provide deployment guidance to ensure that implementations are consistent with design specifications and best practicesAssist with network inventory tracking and management to support the networkTest and document product features and functionalityConfigure, implement, and test/troubleshoot crypto devicesDevelop network and equipment operating proceduresApply industry best practices to the design, planning, and implementation of the networkApply extensive industry experience to optimize network performance and proactively analyze potential enhancementsEvaluate technical specifications for interoperabilityConfigure switches, routers, and firewalls.Provide solution guidance for tech refreshes and environment baseline buildsEngineer and implement security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and informationEnsure configurations meet or exceed system network security requirementsOccasional/infrequent after hours/weekend support may be requiredWhat Required Skills You'll Bring:
Active DoD Secret Clearance, with the ability to obtain TS/SCIActive Security+ CertificationBS degree in an IT Related Field of Study and 5+ years of relevant networking experience OR Associates degree with 7+ years of experienceIntermediate level knowledge of Junos or IOS, and/or PAN-OSStrong experience with L2 switching technologiesIntermediate level understanding and experience with configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols such as BGP and OSPFDeep understanding of network troubleshooting tools such as but not limited to, Wireshark, tcpdump, and SNMP based troubleshooting toolsExperience with physical Network hardware installationHands-on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, and content filteringExperience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring toolsAbility to work independently, as well as part of a larger team consisting of government and contractor team membersWillingness to work onsite 5 days per week
