Job Description
We are looking for a Tier 1 GTM/DNS support Engineer to serve as the primary intake point for operational DNS and Global Traffic Management (GTM) work. This role is critical in supporting internal teams by handling the majority of routine requests, such as DNS changes, GTM configurations, and initial triage of traffic or availability issues. Candidates must have solid, hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP GTM (DNS) and enterprise DNS systems.
This is not an architecture role. The focus is on consistent, reliable execution of repeatable tasks and first-line troubleshooting, allowing engineering teams to stay focused on complex and strategic efforts.
· Serve as the front-line point of contact for DNS and GTM service requests from internal teams
· Create and modify F5 BIG-IP GTM (DNS) configurations including Wide IPs, pools, monitors, and traffic steering rules (e.g., round-robin, geo, topology)
· Support the onboarding and network integration of new F5 GTM appliances, including basic routing setup, IP reachability validation, and sync group registration
· Utilize IMISH shell on F5 GTM to verify or troubleshoot BGP sessions, route tables, and ensure connectivity to upstream routers
· Support the migration from legacy GTM environment to new GTM environments.
· Execute DNS record changes (A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT, SRV, PTR) across internal and external zones using systems like Infoblox, BIND, or Unbound
· Troubleshoot GTM and DNS issues such as monitor status failures, improper traffic routing, or DNS resolution errors using tools like dig, nslookup, curl, and traceroute
· Follow change control processes and document work clearly in ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira)

Skills and Requirements
· Strong hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP DNS / GTM
· Solid understanding of DNS protocols, record types, TTLs, recursion, and caching
· Experience with enterprise DNS tools such as Infoblox, BIND, or Unbound
· Proficient with troubleshooting tools: dig, nslookup, traceroute, etc.
· Familiarity with ticketing and ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.)
Clear and professional communication skills; able to work directly with requesters · Basic scripting knowledge (Bash, Python, Ansible)
Experience contributing to DNS/GTM runbooks and operational documentation null
