Thin Film Technician
**Thin Film Technician (Temp-to-Hire)** **Location:** Boulder, CO **Pay Rate:** $20–26/hour DOE **Shift Differential:** Additional pay based on selected shift **Shifts Available** + **2nd Shift:** Monday – Thursday | 3:30pm – 2:00am + **Weekend Day Shift:** Friday – Sunday | 6:00am – 6:30pm **Position Overview** The Thin Film Technician supports optical coating operations by assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of coating chamber systems used to produce coated optical components. This is a hands-on manufacturing role ideal for candidates interested in precision optics, thin-film coatings, and process-driven production environments. This position works closely with production and coating teams to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency throughout the coating process. **Key Responsibilities** + Support thin-film coating operations by setting up and operating coating chamber systems + Prepare and assemble tooling, spacers, and backers as needed + Load and unload optical components into coating chambers + Perform chamber preparation tasks including foiling, target changes, regens, and bead blasting + Start and monitor coating runs + Perform basic spectrophotometer scans on optical components + Understand and monitor chamber status, cleanliness, and impact on quality + Perform basic crystal error recovery when required + Handle and properly dispose of chemicals according to established procedures + Support 6S workplace organization and cleanliness standards + Follow all safety guidelines and promote a safe work environment + Work effectively within a team-based production setting + Perform other duties as assigned **Qualifications** + High School Diploma or GED preferred + Basic math and problem-solving skills + Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools + Previous experience in manufacturing or process-driven environments is a plus, but not required + Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs **Additional Requirements** + Work may involve information subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) + Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available **Why Consider This Role?** This **temp-to-hire** opportunity offers hands-on experience in advanced optical manufacturing and thin-film coating operations.
