Job Description
This role supports nuclear thermal-hydraulic capabilities, focusing on the development of non-LWR methods and analyses. The position requires expertise in core and plant thermal-hydraulic analysis and methods development. The engineer will optimize thermal-hydraulic technologies and methodologies, including core subchannel flow analyses methods, and contribute to comprehensive reactor thermal hydraulic studies.
Responsibilities
Support the technical development, accuracy, and uncertainty qualification of analytical methods for evaluating steady-state and transient core/fuel performance of nuclear reactors.Work within an approved regulatory framework for nuclear software quality assurance.Prepare, document, and present technical data to internal and external customers.Contribute to and lead team process improvements.Communicate effectively with method users through support, documentation, and training.Ensure high-quality work in accordance with NRC rules, customer requirements, and business standards.Coordinate activities with team members on engineering/technical issues.Develop creative solutions to complex engineering problems.Apply engineering fundamentals to confirm expected performance.Engage customers to define scope and discuss technical risks.Liaise with customers, engineering leadership, and Project Management.Interface with cross-functional teams to complete system design activities.Provide clear and complete analysis documentation.Manage time effectively to deliver quality within project timelines and budgets.Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, computational methods, thermal-hydraulics, nuclear engineering, or a related discipline.5+ years of experience in computational or numerical methods or nuclear thermal-hydraulics modeling.Prior experience with containment and system thermal-hydraulic codes, such as GOTHIC.Experience in air flow and heat transfer within thermal hydraulics.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ph.D. in computer science, computational methods, thermal-hydraulics, nuclear engineering, or a related discipline.Project-based work assignments with time and schedule constraints.Knowledge of nuclear industry regulations and safety margin bases.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.Work Environment
The position offers a remote work environment with occasional travel requirements. The role involves using advanced computational tools and methodologies in a collaborative team setting.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $90.00/hr.
