We are looking for a TCS/ECLSS (Thermal Control System / Environmental Control and Life Support System) Architect Engineer (Senior)
Job Description
Specification, design and implementation of thermal and environmental support systems design of complex spacecrafts.
The candidate shall manage both passive and active thermal control systems, and all systems relevant the environmental control (atmosphere control, air revitalization, temperature and humidity control, water management, fire detection and suppression).
The Candidate shall define the conceptual thermal and environmental control system architecture, their system and subsystem requirements and shall follow the design implementation in accordance with the requirements and the Customer needs.
The candidate shall operate inside a system level core team and interface with the Agencies and Customers, therefore he shall have peculiar communication skills, pro-active attitude in facing and solving problems and inclination to team working.
He has to have a solid cultural base in thermal field such to be able in a short time to define and manage a complex thermal and fluidic system design.
Key duties
In a short time the candidate shall be able to perform the following tasks:
Definition of specific thermal and environmental requirements derived from Customer high level onesDefinition and management of trade-off to support architectural basic choicesDefinition of ATCS and PTCS architectureDefinition of ECLSS Architectures (Atmosphere Control System, Air Revitalization System, Temperature and Humidity Control System, Water Management System, Waste Recovery System, Fire Detection System)Sizing and design of ATCS and PTCS and ECLSS considering manufacturability and integrationconstraints(Simple) Models build-up and run of thermal and fluidic analyses to support sizing and design choices.Preparation of Procurement Specifications for ATCS, PTCS, ECLSS, in collaboration with Thermal Design DepartmentTechnical follow-on of ATCS/PTCS/ECLSS procurement up to delivery (i.e. Subco management), in collaboration with Thermal Design DepartmentEngineering support to development and qualification of manufacturing processes for ATCS/PTCS/ECLSS hardware.Support to hardware integration and final testingSupport for thermal aspects to thermal vacuum tests and preparation of Specifications for thermal balance tests, support definition of Hydraulic and Environmental tests.Support to Quality Assurance for discussion and disposition of NCRs during manufacturing, integration and testing activities.Skills, experience and qualifications required:
Master degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Thermal, Nuclear, Energetic)Previous work experience in the requested discipline and field (Space) is very appreciated.Ability and experience in managing Subcontractors from both a technical and programmatic point of view.Attitude to manage and be leader of a technical Team.knowledge of Thermal Control and Fluidic Control main requirements and relevant solutions for Space Station manned modules, Satellites and re-entry Vehicles.Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and techniques relevant to ATCS/PTCS/ECLSS constituents.Knowledge of Codes (ESATAN TMS, Thermal Desktop) for thermal analysisGood attitude towards teaming and multi-disciplinary approachesAvailable to work in shifts if requested by the ProgramGood attitude towards analysis, synthesis and problem solvingExcellent knowledge of English language (spoken and written)At Thales Alenia Space we provide CAREERS and not only jobs.
