The Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home is seeking a compassionate and experienced Therapeutic Recreation Specialist 1/2 to lead and support recreation staff in providing high-quality care to our honored veterans. Minimum Qualifications Four years of experience as a teacher, instructor, or counselor in a recreational program; OR A bachelor's degree in a rehabilitation, recreation, or therapy field, a physical education field, or psychology; OR Possession of certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in accordance with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Assist with the monthly Activities calendar. Create, plan, and follow through with new activities. + Get residents to and from activities + Decorating the entire facility for holidays and special events. + Take pictures of all events.
