The Research in Education and Learning Lab is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support ongoing projects related to learning and motivation in educational contexts. This hybrid position includes both remote responsibilities and occasional in-person meetings in Charlottesville, VA.
Research Assistants will contribute to a range of tasks, including data collection, transcription, coding, data processing, and preliminary data analysis. They may also assist with the preparation of grants and manuscripts for publication. Extensive training will be provided, and the ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and a collaborative attitude.
This position requires approximately 10–15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling and the ability to work remotely outside of required in-person meetings or data collection sessions.
Responsibilities may include:
Collect data through structured sessions, interviews, or classroom-based observations.Establish rapport with participants, including children and educators, and ensure adherence to study protocols.Accurately transcribe and code collected data using project guidelines.Conduct preliminary data cleaning and descriptive analyses.Assist with literature reviews, manuscript preparation, and grant writing tasks as needed.Record and manage data using secure systems, maintaining strict confidentiality.Attend team meetings (virtual and in-person) to coordinate with other lab members.In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.Compensation range: $16-$25 per hour
Qualifications:
Required: a high school diploma or equivalent is required.Preferred: completed coursework at an institute of higher education, at least one year of experience performing direct work with children in either an educational setting or an out-of-school setting such as a summer camp or an after-school program.Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
