Caterpillar Inc. seeks Test & Validation Senior Engineer at its facility located at 14009 Old Galena Rd, Tech Center Building G, Chillicothe, Illinois 61523.

Responsible for lab testing of advanced drivetrain components and systems at the Caterpillar Tech Center. Define validation requirements and create detailed test plans. Prepare component/systems for testing, perform lab tests. Troubleshoot and resolve any test stand problems. Analyze test data. Develop lab tests to validate components and systems. Ensure lab tests are executed successfully to validate components /systems. Analyze test data for completeness and accuracy. Communicate results and make recommendations to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units. Validate and implement product solutions. Document findings in technical reports.

REQS: This position requires a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field plus 5 years of experience leading the performance of Testing / Validation Engineering or related occupation. Alternatively will accept a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field plus 7 years of experience leading the performance of Testing / Validation Engineering or related occupation.

Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Working with powertrain systems and/or components in a design or testing role; (2) Defining validation requirements and developing test plans; (3) Collaborating with cross functional teams performing troubleshooting and resolution of powertrain related test stand issues; (4) Working with Data Acquisition Software (DEWESoft, NI, Somat, AVL or similar) and Controls Software (Canape, ATI Vision or similar including any external company specific or proprietary controls software); and (5) Developing and managing validation project schedules and costs.

Summary Pay Range:  

$ 131,872.00 - $ 165,840.00

Compensation and benefits may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market, location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.  Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
