Test Technician
Job Title: Test Technician Job Description The Gas Turbine Test Liaison is a crucial role that supports the organization's ability to maintain, repair, and overhaul gas turbine engines used in land-based applications. This position focuses on the final acceptance test, including engine performance, engine vibration, and other functional checks. Responsibilities + Serve as the business unit liaison with central engineering on test cell facilities issues, including identifying the needs of the business unit and coordinating specifications and procurement. + Support test cell modifications, improvements, calibrations, manage engine rejects, and perform data trending and troubleshooting related to engine performance. + Design, implement, and maintain diagnostic test cell tools and analysis spreadsheets. + Use statistics to perform trend monitoring of engine test cell pass rates and engine performance. + Manage the engine reject process, including conducting meetings with technical experts, quality members, and operations, disposition of reject non-conformances, root cause analysis, and monitoring each step of the reject process to ensure timely and successful completion. + Troubleshoot engine vibration occurrences using diagnostic equipment and other trim balance methods, such as Sommerville plots and four run no phase balance. + Work casual overtime to support production needs. + Occasionally travel to Plattsburgh, New York test cell and customer sites up to several times a month. + Collaborate with field service, disassembly and assembly mechanics, quality control, and component repair as needed. + Communicate with internal and external customers regarding testing activities, schedules, and technical issues. + Always use appropriate personal protective equipment. + Participate in safety and quality programs, initiatives, and meetings. Essential Skills + Thorough knowledge of gas turbine engine theory and performance, engine vibration analysis, diagnostics, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. + Proficiency in the use of hand tools, torquing devices, manufacturers' special tooling, fixtures, and support equipment. + Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision-making, oral, and written communication skills. + In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, ratios, area, circumference, and volume. + Proficiency in complex equations and application of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and shop math related to engine performance regression graphs, performance curves, fits and clearances, running positions, and vector analysis. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Engineering experience with gas turbine engines, repair, and testing. + Mechanical skills related to engine testing and repair. + Experience in Gas Turbine Testing, Overhaul, and Repair. + Familiarity with Excel for data analysis. Work Environment The role is approximately 75% office-based and 25% hands-on. Office work includes data analysis, documentation, and coordination with engineering teams. Hands-on tasks involve supporting test cell operations, troubleshooting engine performance, and using diagnostic tools. The technician will collaborate with a team of four engineers (process, repair, and development) and four production mechanics. The work environment is very clean and centrally located in Connecticut, with a business casual dress code. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr. Eligibility & Enrollment: Full- and part-time employees working 30+ hours/week are eligible. You must enroll within 31 days of hire or a qualifying life event.
