The Electrical Test Technician is responsible for performing electrical tests on rotating electrical machines to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable standards. This role involves identifying and resolving test discrepancies, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring product quality.
Key ResponsibilitiesReceive rotating electrical machines from the Assembly Section and record identification in the testing system.Identify and prepare necessary devices (e.g., couplings, flanges, keys) for accurate and safe testing.Align and couple machines to dynamometers or other test apparatus.Review production orders, engineering data sheets, process/test specifications, and drawings.Conduct electrical tests, record readings and calculations, and evaluate results against specifications.Communicate test progress and results to the test analyst.Support customer inspections and assist in resolving issues raised during testing.Participate in special and prototype tests, assisting with planning and execution.Inspect machines for defects before and during testing, reporting issues to the supervisor.Prepare and maintain electronic test plans, data sheets, and reports.Operate auxiliary testing equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, tachometers, meggers, and high-pot testers.Calibrate and maintain test equipment, including documentation and procedure development.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and uphold ISO 9001, OSHA, and EPA standards.Required QualificationsAssociate degree in Electronics, Electrotechnical, or Electromechanical.Knowledge of rotating electrical machines and industrial electronic measuring instruments.Strong troubleshooting skills in both electrical and mechanical domains.Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.Proficiency in using oscilloscopes and other diagnostic tools.Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills.Physical RequirementsRoutinely lift and move objects up to 20 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs.Occasionally climb ladders/stairs and work at heights or in confined spaces.Frequently stand or sit for extended periods.Occasionally perform repetitive motions and operate machinery or power tools.Move between workstations as needed.Additional SkillsFamiliarity with data acquisition systems and electronic databases.Experience developing and following work instructions and test procedures.Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
