Test Engineer
Job Title: Test Engineer

Job Description

The Test Engineer will design and assemble test fixtures, leading a small team of technicians and engineers to execute static, abuse, and cycle testing of airplane closets, galleys, lavatories, and other aircraft interior monuments. This role is hands-on and occasionally physically intense, requiring coordination and collaboration to ensure timely completion of testing in a noisy, light industrial environment.

ResponsibilitiesExecute static, abuse, and cycle testing of aircraft lavatories, galleys, and closets.Collect and analyze data to provide accurate reports to clients.Verify data from other engineers for accuracy and quality deliverables.Oversee design and manufacturing of equipment and test fixtures.Automate static tests using pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders.Ensure testing equipment and instrumentation comply with specifications.Document test results and maintain records for later analysis.Coordinate with other departments affected by testing.Confirm testing practices comply with necessary regulations for safety and quality.Establish validation standards and develop/improve testing protocols.Mentor engineers and technicians, providing insight on novel ideas.Essential SkillsExperience with test equipment, environmental testing, and test engineering.Proficiency in CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, or Inventor Pro.Experience with static/abuse/cycle testing, specifically aerospace.A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience.Ability to design electro-mechanical test setups and test rigs.Exposure to LabVIEW.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Microsoft Office products.Familiarity with hand and power tools, such as grinders, saws, impacts, and drills.Experience with microcontrollers, pneumatic cylinders, solenoids, and basic electrical systems.Experience in designing and fabricating standard plates and brackets using steel, aluminum, or wood.Ability to write and execute test plans and reports.Experience reading, interpreting, and executing test plans written by others.Experience with simple electronics for cycle test execution.Ability to convey instructions to technicians to achieve daily tasks.Experience working with design and stress engineers to design test fixtures and execute tests.Ability to communicate professionally with test witnesses on site.Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.Capable of troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.Comfortable with fabrication work, including mechanical carpentry and metalworking.Work Environment

The role is based in an onsite lab environment, leading a small team of technicians and engineers. The job involves executing static, abuse, and cycle testing of airplane closets, galleys, lavatories, and other aircraft interior monuments in a noisy, light industrial environment. It is a hands-on role that can be physically intense, requiring assistance with test setups and coordination to complete testing on time.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
