Auburn University is proud to manage the **Harris Early Learning Center** in Birmingham, Alabama—a state-of-the-art, accredited preschool serving more than 200 children from six weeks to five years old. As part of our kitchen staff, you’ll play a key role in creating a warm, nurturing environment by helping provide healthy, delicious meals that fuel our children’s growth and learning each day. Working alongside the Head Cook and Assistant Cook, you’ll assist with meal preparation and service, and step in to cover shifts when needed—making you an essential part of our operation and the care we provide.

**Essential Functions**
**What You’ll Do:**
+ Prepare the kitchen for daily meal service and cook assigned meals with care and consistency.
+ Keep the kitchen and all equipment spotless, safe, and ready for use.
+ Deliver meals and beverages to classrooms and other areas of the center.
+ Serve food and drinks to children and staff with a focus on quality and friendliness.
+ Follow proper food storage and handling procedures to ensure safety and freshness.
+ Place food and supply orders with vendors, verify invoices, and maintain accurate inventory.
+ Help purchase additional food or supplies locally when needed to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

**Minimum Qualifications**
**What We Need From You:**
+ Ability to read and write.
+ Food handler’s card. Or must be able to obtain it within 2 weeks after employment.
