BASIC PURPOSE: 

Coaches and develops Territory Managers, District Sales Managers and other sales related positions to build selling skills and achieve higher sales performance.  Utilizes consistent sales processes, selling skills curriculum and technical applications in order to maximize sales performance and retention. Provides guidance to local sales leaders regarding sales performance gaps, area / market sales development needs and manages training curriculum.  Assist and support in the hiring and development of the division sales staff.  Supports and reinforces area / market on-boarding process, product training and deployment of sales related initiatives.  May support more than one area / market location.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Provide sales training, coaching and mentoring to Territory Managers Trainees, Territory Managers, sales leaders and other employees in sales and/or in sales support - using US Foods sales process, tools, curriculum and materials. 

 

Assess and diagnose sales performance gaps and recommend practical, timely and effective solutions to close those gaps.   

 

Perform assessments to ensure sales professionals and leaders are assimilating and applying new knowledge and skills.  Provide immediate and direct feedback to improve performance. 

 

Communicate with area / market sales management and Regional Training Director regarding development needs based on performance levels.  

 

In conjunction with the Area / Market Sales Leadership Team, help identify and develop future sales leaders.  

 

Assist in evaluating sales candidates by participating in the interview process as required.    

 

Actively participate in General and District Sales meetings; conduct / facilitate development activities as required.  

 

Share selling skills recommendations and tools to enable the sales force to best utilize available resources.   

 

Coordinate corporate training programs and collaborate with Regional Training Director to identify and implement strategies and initiatives. 

 

Support multiple divisions’ training needs as required. 

 

 

Travel – up to 50% required for trainers supporting multiple divisions 

 

 

RELATIONSHIPS: 

 

Area / market sales leaders, Sales Coordination Department, Territory Managers and Trainees, Regional Sales Training Director.  

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Education/Training:  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Education or Business Management, or equivalent experience required.   

 

Related Experience:  A minimum of five years of sales or sales training experience required (foodservice industry or related preferred).  

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:   

 

Possess strong selling knowledge and skills  

Demonstrates strong communications skills and professional credibility to influence sales leaders and professionals 

Exceptional platform delivery and facilitation skills - ability to deliver training programs from existing materials and teach sales-related training modules 

Ability to prioritize time and resources for maximize impact on sales performance 

Demonstrated success in recommending learning solutions to drive sales results 

Excellent oral and written communication skills 

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)  

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $75,000-$120,000.

This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds).  The expected base rate for this role is between

$50,000 - $90,000
