Tennis & Fitness Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Fitness & Tennis
Job Purpose:
The Tennis & Fitness Coordinator is the primary point of contact for members, managing court and gym schedules, assisting with facility upkeep, and providing assistance in booking private and group tennis lessons, and assisting in registering in fitness classes. This is a multi-faceted role that combines the essential functions of a fitness monitor with the responsibilities of a tennis pro-shop manager and member liaison, ensuring a welcoming and well-maintained environment for all club members.


Essential Duties:
•  Member Services & Hospitality:
o Greet members and guests warmly upon their arrival and departure from both the fitness center and tennis courts.
o Check member IDs, validate guest participation, and assist with signing in members.
o Distribute and manage key fobs and towels.
o Serve as the main point of contact for member inquiries, both in person and over the phone, providing information on club services, events, and policies.

• Facility Operations & Monitoring:
o Monitor daily activity in the fitness center and tennis courts, including the exercise equipment room, aerobic room, and locker rooms, ensuring member safety and compliance with club rules.
o Perform light custodial duties to keep the fitness center and tennis areas neat and tidy, including wiping down machines and picking up discarded items.
o Adjust music and television equipment as needed.
o Perform opening and closing duties for both the fitness and tennis areas as required.
o Proactively report safety concerns or maintenance needs to the appropriate manager.

• Instruction & Coaching:
o Provide basic instruction on fitness equipment usage to members.
o Assist with the coordination of tennis clinics, leagues, and tournaments.

• Safety & Compliance:
o Incorporate and model safe work practices in all job functions.
o Respond to emergency situations according to facility policy.
o Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Qualifications:
o  Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED; one year of related experience in a fitness or tennis club setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience teaching tennis is highly preferred.
o  Certificates/Licenses: CPR and First Aid Certification required.
o  Physical Demands: Frequent use of hands, standing, and walking. Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
o  Environment: The role involves working in both indoor and outdoor settings. The noise level is moderate.
Skills:
o  Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with members.
o Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
o A proactive, service-oriented attitude with a passion for fitness and tennis.
o Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently to effectively communicate with members and staff.


Availability:
This position will be scheduled for full time shifts, 5 days per week including weekend days, typically 7:30am – 3:30pm but may vary.
