The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for four (4) temporary Hops Field Inspectors in the Hops Lab for the Bureau of Food Safety, Hemp and Hops. This is a temporary position with up to 40 hours a week and may include holidays and weekends. This position has an approximate start date of August 18, 2025, and ends approximately October 24, 2025. This position does not have benefits. The hired Hops Inspector will work a maximum of 40 hours a week. This may include working holidays and weekends with potential for overtime. Any overtime will be pre-approved by the supervisor. During most weeks, Hops Inspectors will be required to work five, eight-hour days from approximately 8:00am-4:00pm. Hops inspectors will be scheduled five days between Monday through Friday. SPECIAL NOTIFICATION: This non-classified position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. Example of Duties + Obtain license through USDA/AMA/FGIS + Pack and prepare sampling equipment and ensure sampling equipment is cleaned and properly maintained + Conduct routine hops sampling by collecting representative samples while ensuring correct sampling methods followed + Ensure proper labeling, documentation and chain of custody of samples + Process and close necessary paperwork on-site + Ensure correct and thorough data entry + Provide customer service as requested + Communicate with staff as necessary + Maintain a clean, safe and efficient workspace Minimum Qualifications These qualifications are mandatory requirements. Any combination of ability, education, training or experience that demonstrates competence in each of the following: With or without reasonable accommodation, physical ability to: + Stand for prolonged periods of time. + Work in extreme cold and heat, wet and humid environments around dirt, fumes, poorly ventilated areas, noise and odors. + Collect, lift and carry samples weighing up to 25 pounds. + Intermittently bend, squat, twist and reach above shoulder level. Ability to: + Follow written and verbal instructions and accurately complete project logs and other required documentation. + Write or print neatly and legibly. + Verify and copy information.
