Temporary Custodial employees perform cleaning duties in business, academic, healthcare, and research environments at the University of Virginia.
Temporary Custodial assignments can vary in length lasting from a few days to an indefinite time period. They can be part-time or full-time, and require varying skill sets ranging from entry-level to advanced expertise. The needs of our business partners vary, and employees of diverse skills are needed for different assignments. Below are some of the responsibilities which UVA Temporary Custodial employees assume:
Apply proper methods and materials in cleaning assigned spacesClean common areas which may include; meeting spaces, hallways, classrooms, student lounges, and other areas of the University, remove trash, clean bathrooms, wipe down surfaces, dust, vacuum, etc.Work may involve minor maintenance tasks or more complex tasks including operating cleaning equipment such as backpack vacuums, battery powered floor equipment etc.Experience, education, and physical requirements will vary based on the specifics of the temporary role to be filled. Successful candidates must be able to perform the following physical demands: walking/standing for extended periods of time, pushing/pulling, frequent bending/stooping as well as moderate lifting and climbing stairs.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Skills & Abilities:
Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position and able to read and writeDemonstrated level of professional customer service and interpersonal communication skillsKeen attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality while managing competing prioritiesAbility to communicate and work alongside faculty, staff, students, patients, vendors, and outside guests of the University in an effective and professional manner.Preferred
Education: High School Diploma, Certification, Professional Licensure, or equivalent education, training and experience
Skills & Abilities:
