Telemetry Monitoring Tech - LCH (Nights) **League City, Texas, United States** **New** Patient Care UTMB Health Requisition # 2505269 **REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:** + High school diploma or equivalent. + Successful completion of EMT – Paramedic program or graduation from related allied health sciences program or one (1) year related experience. + Passing score of 80% or higher of UTMB’s arrhythmia test. **JOB SUMMARY:** To provide specialized advanced technical skills in all technical aspects of the telemetry monitoring system. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** + Operates and troubleshoots all functions of the telemetry monitoring system: -Admits, transfers, and discharges patient and enters all required information in telemetry monitoring system.-Adjusts alarms.-Reviews trends and alarms.-Cleans and maintains telemetry monitors/holders and accounts for monitor upon patient discharge. -Accounts for all monitors at the end of each assigned shift. -Orders monitoring supplies.-Obtains and documents rhythm strips per unit/department standards -Maintains log book on all monitored patients. + Provides precise continual surveillance and analysis of cardiac rhythms on electrocardiographic Central Station: -Interprets EKG rhythms. -Recognizes significant EKG events. -Communicates information to the responsible individual within an appropriate time frame. -Immediately reports significant or life threatening changes to a RN. + Participates in orienting and teaching of nursing staff, physicians and students as related to monitoring equipment. + Assists with maintenance of unit equipment. -Performs daily quality checks of freestanding cardio-defibrillators. + Maintains a safe environment: -Ensures that equipment has current electrical and maintenance inspections. -Reports all malfunctioning equipment. + Provides age appropriate interaction and care as indicated. + Uses aseptic techniques and infection control measures in performance of duties. + Recognizes patient care priorities, treatment plans, objectives, and potential crisis. + Respects and supports patient / family rights. + Practices positive guest and peer relations.
