We want your knowledge and expertise! **Job Summary and Qualifications** As a Unit Secretary - Monitor Technician, you’ll perform both clerical and monitoring duties in a hospital unit. You will maintain patient records, transcribe orders, and coordinate communication as well as monitor cardiac rhythms, identify abnormalities, and report them to nursing staff, ensuring patients' safety. As a Telemetry Monitor Technician, also known as a Monitoring Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in patient care by closely watching and interpreting heart rhythms using telemetry equipment. You will be responsible for identifying potential cardiac issues, reporting abnormal findings to medical staff, and ensuring the patient's safety. Telemetry technicians use electrocardiograph (ECG) equipment to continuously monitor a patient's heart activity. We are seeking a detail-oriented Telemetry Monitor Technician who will be responsible for setup and monitoring of telemetry systems as directed by physicians. Additionally, Unit Secretary clerical and receptionist duties in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of HCA Florida West Hospital. Key Responsibilities: Clerical Duties: + Maintaining patient records, including ensuring charts are up-to-date and organized. + Transcribing physician orders into the medical record. + Schedules appointments and procedures. + Answers phones and directs calls. + Coordinates communication between various members of the healthcare team. Monitoring Duties: + Observing cardiac monitors and interpreting rhythms. + Identifying and reporting any changes or abnormalities in rhythm to the nursing staff. + Printing and documenting rhythm strips. + Maintaining accurate patient records of rhythms. Other Responsibilities: + Ordering and maintaining supplies on the unit. + Providing friendly and helpful assistance to patients and their families. + Maintaining a safe and orderly environment on the unit. Required qualifications, licensure, certifications and/or training: + High school diploma or equivalent required in addition to the education/experience components following. + Completion of Vocational/Technical training in EKG monitoring and interpretation; familiarity with medical terminology is essential. + Knowledge of medical terminology + Must be able to perform mathematic calculations in order to calculate cardiac intervals. + Basic computer knowledge. + 1+ year experience in a nursing environment with competent knowledge of basic cardiac rhythms. Experience in EKG/ECG interpretation is required. + Current BLS/BCLS certification required via American Red Cross or American Heart Association or must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
