Telecom Lead Engineer
Job Title: Telecom Lead Engineer Location: Oman

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Telecom Lead Engineer to lead and manage telecommunications activities during the pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of a large-scale industrial facility. The role will involve overseeing telecom systems installation completion, testing, integration, and handover to operations, ensuring full compliance with project specifications, international standards, and safety requirements.

The successful candidate will act as the technical authority for telecom discipline activities on site, coordinating closely with engineering, construction, commissioning, vendors, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities: Engineering & Technical Leadership Lead all telecommunications scope during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases Review and validate telecom engineering deliverables, including: Network architecture and system layouts Telecom block diagrams and schematics Fiber optic, structured cabling, and routing drawings Ensure systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in line with: Project specifications Approved drawings and procedures Applicable international standards (IEC, ITU-T, ISO, IEEE) Systems Scope

Responsible for the following systems, including integration and interface management:

Telecom network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, IP/MPLS where applicable) Fiber optic and copper cabling systems Telephone systems (PABX / IP telephony) CCTV and video surveillance systems Access control and security systems Public Address & General Alarm (PAGA) systems Radio systems (TETRA / UHF / VHF, where applicable) Data and server room equipment (racks, switches, UPS interfaces) Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Activities Develop and review: Pre-commissioning check sheets Commissioning procedures and test scripts Lead telecom system testing activities such as: Point-to-point testing Loop checks Network performance and redundancy tests System integration tests Coordinate vendor attendance and factory acceptance / site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) support Monitor commissioning progress and proactively resolve technical issues Site Coordination & Management Act as single point of contact for telecom discipline on site Coordinate daily activities with: Construction teams Commissioning teams Other engineering disciplines Client / operations representatives (without naming entities) Manage and support telecom engineers and technicians on site Participate in site walkdowns, punch listing, and system handover activities Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with: Project HSE requirements Company quality standards Telecommunications industry best practices Support preparation of telecom dossiers, test records, and handover documentation Close out punch items and support final system acceptance Interface & Reporting Report to the Commissioning Manager / Engineering Manager Interface closely with: Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation teams IT / cybersecurity stakeholders (if applicable) Vendors and system integrators Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in: Telecommunications Engineering Electrical / Electronics Engineering or related discipline Relevant professional certifications (preferred but not mandatory) Minimum 10–15 years of experience in telecommunications engineering Proven experience as Telecom Lead Engineer on large industrial projects, preferably: Oil & Gas LNG Petrochemical Power or heavy industrial facilities Strong hands-on experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning phases Prior site-based project experience in the Middle East is highly desirable
