The Integrated Genetics division (part of LabCorp’s Specialty Testing Group) has an exciting opportunity for a Technologist Trainee in Santa Fe, NM.  We are a fast-paced diagnostic testing facility performing chromosome analysis on various tissue types.  This position will include various wet lab procedures, troubleshooting, quality control, and microscopic analysis.

As a Technologist Trainee you will be able to participate in LabCorp’s in-house training program for the field of Cytogenetics and become certified in Cytogenetics. Receive in depth training and preparation for the ASCP board of examination and certification (ASCP-CG). 

The schedule for this position will be Monday to Friday.  Hours can vary depending on business need.  Ability to work overtime and weekends is required.

Responsibilities:

Production and aliquoting of cytogenetic media and reagentsValidation of cytogenetic media and reagents/ statistical analysisHarvest adhesion and suspension cultures that result in slide preparationsChromosome analysis using microscopy and computer imaging systemFacilitate or perform calibration of pipettes, thermometers, and other instrumentsPerform and document preventative maintenance and quality control proceduresWash, sterilize, and process laboratory dishwarePerform general lab support dutiesMaintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements:

B.A./B.S. in Biology, Medical Technology, Chemistry, or related life science fieldPrevious clinical or research lab experience preferred but not requiredAbility to work a flexible schedule including weekends and overtimeAttention to detail and ability to follow established protocolsAbility to multi-task if necessarySelf-motivated and eager to learnAbility to work in a team and as an individual
