Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join the Toxicology Department in San Antonio, TX

Work Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, with the possibility of rotating Mondays as needed. Start time is 7:00 a.m.; end time may vary based on workload and operational needs. Overtime is minimal and typically averages fewer than 10 hours per pay period.

Job Responsibilities

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteriaPerform routine and complex toxicology testing procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionalityDemonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solvingPrepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controlsReport accurate and timely test results to support quality patient carePerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresIdentify and replenish testing bench supplies as neededAssist with specimen processing when requiredMaintain a safe work environment and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Science, Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical TechnologyOne (1) year of clinical laboratory testing experience OR a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) degree

Preferred Qualifications

ASCP or AMT certification

2 or more years of experience performing toxicology and/or chemistry testing in a clinical or laboratory setting.

Additional Job Standards

Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems

Ability to work independently and within a team environment

High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
