**Essential Duties/Responsibilities:**
• Performs testing, analysis, and data recording. Performs all tasks in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and standard procedures.
• Performs batch approval testing for elastomer compounds and plastics. Demonstrates the following abilities: A) Molding of elastomer specimens, B) Testing of elastomers and plastics, C) Secondary testing of elastomers and plastics.
• Performs periodic testing and compound qualification according to customer schedule and specifications. Tracks data results on appropriate system and reports in timely manner.
• Approves and accepts raw materials and resins according to standardized testing procedures and reporting methods.
• Performs job in a safe manner, maintains current SDS database, and adheres to chemical safety standards and practices consistently.
• Uses current Elastomer/Thermoplastics Specifications. Generates, reviews, and modifies elastomer and thermoplastic batch reports.
• Uses current elastomer and thermoplastics SAP specifications, gathering data and updating records according to test results and required approvals.
• Performs advanced analytical tests, produces laboratory reports, and completes the CERMs folder and on-line tasks in a clear and descriptive manner, for status communication and updates with business and production groups.
• Works primarily with harvest activities or in a supporting role on future value activities.
• Assists Materials Lab Supervisor and Materials Engineers with testing, test data recording, data analysis on Materials Lab Projects.
• Performs reference testing. Performs periodic instrument calibrations and maintenance.
• Performs root cause evaluation of standard production problems, troubleshooting failures and diagnosing problems, recommending methods or materials to resolve issue. Documents discrepancies in Laboratory Discrepancy Log.
**Required Minimum Qualifications**
Education/Certifications: High school diploma required. Preference given to candidates with college coursework or equivalent work experience.
**Skills and Experience:**
• Minimum experience 1-3 years in a test laboratory
• Basic rubber and/or thermal analysis courses, or their equivalent, may be required during training.

• Working knowledge about how to operate manual presses, ovens, two-roll mill, and all test equipment and equipment software as already specified in the Laboratory is required. Basic knowledge of rubber compounding and technology is required. A background in inspection and QC of material test articles is a plus. Working knowledge of requirements for batch disposition verifications through Material Review Boards and Batch Quality Certification verification requirements is a must.
• Ability to work in a team environment, with accountability for personal tasks. High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with test data. Commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to work for long periods of time in a sitting position. Ability to work for long periods of time in positions requiring walking, standing, carrying, stooping or lifting. Ability to lift and carry slab molds weighing over 50 pounds with the use of mechanical lifting devices. Ability to fill and move liquid nitrogen tanks.
• Other sensory or physical capabilities required: normal or corrected vision and hearing, normal sense of touch, normal ability to speak.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to think critically are essential. Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and SAP database is required.
