In this hands-on industrial maintenance role, you’ll apply your mechanical and electrical troubleshooting expertise to support continuous improvement across our production environment. From preventative maintenance to urgent repairs, you’ll be at the center of solving real-time equipment challenges that directly impact operational performance. You’ll collaborate closely with service technicians and cross-functional teams to install, repair, and optimize equipment, while also contributing ideas and technical solutions that reduce downtime and improve reliability. This position is part of the Operations Team, located in **Ames, Iowa** and will be **onsite.** **In this role, a typical day will look like:** + Proactively address problems using the appropriate troubleshooting and repair techniques + Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, product or process problems and identify root cause + Document repairs and the appropriate adjustments made in the Computer Maintenance Management System + Help coordinate planned and unplanned activities with engineering, managers, contractors, and vendors to perform repairs and preventative maintenance activities for process equipment as needed + Assess the equipment’s performance and repair history, and work with engineers to plan a preventative maintenance schedule, as well as work on equipment upgrades + Calibrate equipment, cleanrooms, and controlled areas + Purchase and maintain equipment components, spare parts, or repair supplies + Assists with the training and performance building of other technicians + Participate in continuous improvement/Kaizen activities + Complete LOTO training **The essential requirements of the job include:** + 3+ years related experience in an appropriate manufacturing or engineering environment preferred. + High school diploma or GED required. + Associates Degree in related field, or appropriate background with related work experience. + Developed analytical skills and ability to problem solve in a logical, structured manner. + The ability to read and comprehend drawings and other technical information required to perform the assigned task work. **ENVIRONMENT** Chemical manufacturing environment in multiple buildings on the Hach Campus. **Work Environment** The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
