JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing tests on a variety of building products and components.

Shift/Schedule: First/Monday-Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Provide exceptional customer serviceReview and thoroughly understand contract requirements, and obtain authorization for and document any deviationsTake full responsibility for assigned projects (job progress, job notifications, invoicing, documentation of test data, reporting, job closure)Coordinate test schedule with equipment schedule and other department testingTrack and condition test specimensSet-up/mount and perform standard tests in accordance with referenced specifications and procedureAnalyse test results and write accurate and concise test reports that summarize the test procedures and resultsCommunicate with clients regarding test preparation, procedures, and resultsAssist department admin in invoicing for all assigned projectsLearn test standards and test procedures (e.g., AAMA, ASTM, NFPA, etc.)Assist in all areas of testing when able to gain further experienceRemove specimens and discard; store samplesMaintain tools and equipment; inventory supplies; maintain cleanliness of work areaThis position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED requiredMinimum of 5 years' experience working in a technical position in a lab testing environmentGeneral construction/carpentry knowledge and experience using power toolsTechnical competency to understand and communicate test procedures, specifications, and results and possess a mechanical aptitudeFamiliarity with Quality Assurance policies and procedures which relate to the control, storage, and disposition of test specimensAbility to follow directions and work with minimal supervisionExcellent customer service skillsStrong communication skills – both written and oralGood computer skills using Word and Excel, and AutoCAD if applicableTravel as business needs dictate (up to 25%)Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is requiredPhysical ability to routinely lift at least 50 poundsPhysical ability to sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, push, pull, etc. as required to perform job duties

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's Degree in a technical field desired, or equivalent experience
