What You’ll Do:
As a Mechanic at First Student, you'll help maintain and repair a fleet of modern vehicles, using your diagnostic and technical skills to ensure each vehicle is road-ready and safe. Your responsibilities will include:
Inspecting and repairing brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions
Diagnosing and repairing electrical systems and components
Completing work orders and documentation
Providing occasional mobile emergency support
Please note: This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to DOT drug testing (49 CFR Part 40). The use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, is not permitted.
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You:
Have 1-3 years of experience with automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicles
Have hands-on experience with electrical diagnostics and repairs
Hold a valid driver’s license and are willing to obtain a CDL-B within 90 days (we provide the training!)
Own a set of mechanic’s tools
Are motivated to earn and maintain ASE certifications (School Bus Brake ASE required within one year)
