Technician, Meter Prover Water Draw

One of our clients, a major oil and gas company has tasked us with sourcing a Technician, Meter Prover – Water Draw to join their team in Sherwood Park, Alberta on an 6 month contract. Reporting to the Supervisor, Petroleum Measurement, this role supports the planning and execution of the organization’s water draw calibration program and provides hands?on technical support to the broader Petroleum Measurement team.

Working closely with Technical Services, measurement specialists, and integrity groups, the Technician ensures that meter provers and associated measurement equipment are maintained, calibrated, and operated in accordance with internal standards. This position involves a combination of field and office duties and may require periodic travel within Canada and the United States.

Key Responsibilities Water Draw & Calibration Support Assist with the Water Draw Program, ensuring provers are calibrated accurately and at required intervals based on internal measurement standards. Verify that provers are properly cleaned, isolated, and prepared before calibration begins. Set up, connect, and disconnect all water draw equipment, ensuring leak?free operation at hoses and prover flanges. Equipment Maintenance & Rebuilds Support maintenance, servicing, and rebuilds of meter provers, including both small volume provers and larger pipe provers. Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of water draw trailers, tools, and equipment to ensure readiness for deployment. Operational & Team Collaboration Assist the Petroleum Measurement team with related measurement and integrity tasks as required. Uphold safe work practices and compliance with operational procedures in all field activities. Perform work in both field and office environments, adapting to changing operational demands. Qualifications & Skills Mandatory Requirements Valid Alberta Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s licence with a valid air brakes endorsement. Minimum five years of operations experience involving pressure piping and related systems. Working knowledge of measurement systems, measurement standards, and water draw techniques using both gravimetric and volumetric methods. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Technical & Behavioural Competencies Strong mechanical aptitude; an instrumentation or electrical background is considered an asset. Detail?oriented, analytical, and resourceful with strong problem?solving abilities. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team. Comfortable in a fast?paced, high?demand work environment. Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and the US.
