JOB SUMMARY:

The Technical Writer Sr. role is responsible for developing, writing, and editing content for Operation and Service Manuals, Kit Instructions, and related technical publications in print or electronic media.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.

Analyze new products, design changes, and attend product design meetings to determine impact on manualsEstimate and schedule development time requirements for projectsCoordinate meetings and activities as needed with engineering, service, marketing, and outside suppliers to gather, refine, and validate information to support assigned tasks and responsibilitiesDevelop, write, and revise operation manual, service manual, kit instruction, and bulletin content using publishing and illustrating software, which adhere to documentation guidelines and templatesUnderstand bill of material conceptAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and other related engineering design and manufacturing documentation as required. Upload manuals into Windchill and create Change Notices to release documentation to Online Express for JLG.comReview applicable Change Notices (CNs) and determine actions neededPrepare work for sub-contractors, ensure work is kept to schedule, style, and qualityCoordinate proofing of final copy prior to releaseAssist and/or train subordinate technical writers as neededOversee others on assigned projects as requiredProvide assistance to internal and external customers in the use of operator and service manualsDevelop instructions for accessory and service kits

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor’s degree with 4 years' experience, OR 10 years of relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Self-starter, flexible, and highly organized with strong analytical skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to communicate with internal and external customersCustomer service oriented and quality focused Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphereAbility to organize projects and oversee the activities of others on assignmentsMechanical and spatial aptitude with knowledge of electrical and hydraulic schematics and systemsPrior experience with PTC Windchill, Arbortext, Creo Illustrate, Adobe Framemaker, Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, and CorelDrawExperience and proficiency with various web-based software applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.Experience with CAD, Illustration, or Graphics artwork

Pay Range:

$72,200.00 - $116,200.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
