As Technical Writer in the Digital Science and Automation Solutions business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific you will collaborate with various teams to produce high-quality user documentation materials to support all product offerings! You will plan, implement, and deliver documentation projects in an agile environment with a strong focus on quality, usability, and overall customer experience. All projects follow our internal quality management system, using a variety of tools to create, revise, and review end user product documentation. You will work with other team members to discuss, plan, and complete documentation-specific projects to support a variety of organizational initiatives.
Specific Tasks
Collaborate with the engineering and testing teams to gather information.
Create new and update existing content for end user product documentation.
Contribute to the development and implementation of documentation standards across the product portfolio.
Review user documentation.
Develop expertise in technical communication.
Assist in project management activities as required.
Skills Required

Experience Required
Required:
Degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, Chemistry or related field with an emphasis on technical documentation or equivalent years of relevant experience.
Minimum of 5+ years as a technical author in a software development environment.
Experience in writing instructional, training or presentation material in a scientific environment. This may include SOPs, presentation of papers at conferences, and dissertations, as well as manuals or help systems.
Familiarity with Microsoft® Windows® platforms.
Preferred:
Experience with analytical instruments.
Knowledge of LIMS, SDMS, ELN, and LES.
Understanding of cloud-based applications/services.
Experience with API documentation.
Experience working in a software development environment.
Knowledge of a foreign language.
Experience with one or more of the following: SaaS and PaaS software delivery models, JIRA and Confluence, Mad Cap Flare/Flare Online, Author it, MS Office, CSS, HTML, XML, Adobe Captivate.
