Job Description

The Rockwell Automation University (RAU) School of Technology is a team that serves all of Rockwell Automation by raising the competency level of hands-on technical resources.

Summary

We are looking for an Application Engineer who will develop and deliver technical training focused on Industrial Networking and Cybersecurity. You will upskill engineers on designing, configuring, and troubleshooting industrial networks using Rockwell Automation solutions.

Rockwell Automation provides comprehensive training and learning to our employees, partners, and customers to improve their skillsets. Our goal is to upskill engineers through a mix of formal learning either through eLearning, instructor lead, or identifying proper OJT for different roles.

Your Responsibilities:

You will focus on educating Rockwell Automation technical resources on industrial networking from fundamentals to advanced security. Specifically upskilling them on EtherNet/IP architecture design, Stratix switch configuration, troubleshooting techniques, and implementing cybersecurity best practices aligned with industry standards.

Work with RAU Delivery Leaders, Development Leaders, and Project Managers to understand training needs of the stakeholdersDevelop training materials for eLearning, remote instructor lead, or in classroom formats to suit the needs of technical staff through technical writing, interactive presentations, and other learning practicesDeliver training in a classroom or virtual classroom to achieve learning goals

Work with product businesses, stakeholder businesses, and partners to develop and deploy world class training to RA employees, partners, and customers

Skills you have:

Define concise learning goalsDevelop and deliver technical training to achieve specified learning objectivesTrain and mentor others through content creation and personal interactionExperience with Industrial Networking concepts, including Stratix managed switches, Studio 5000 Logix Designer network configuration, Wireshark and diagnostic tools, VLANs, NAT, and routing in OT environmentsBalance competing requirements and interests, with focus on top priorities, finding opportunities to achieve win-win or obtain acceptance/agreement to compromiseWork across organizational boundariesExperience creating detailed technical documentation, including speaking in front of small and large groups and ability to write & maintain technical documentationParticipate in customer-facing engagements to develop expertise in customer requirements of products, technologies, and solutionsConduct technical training for internal employees and partners in the use of company products, applications, solutions, and troubleshootingBe the technical mentor, adviser for students, RAU, and shared labor resources

The Essentials - You Will Have:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldOpenness to travel 10% of time, domestic or international

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:1+ year of experience in industrial networking design, configuration, and troubleshooting or relevantExperience with Rockwell Automation networking products and toolsExperience with cybersecurity frameworks and standards for OT environmentsHands-on experience with diagnostic tools (Wireshark, Putty) and network simulation
