Chemours is seeking a Technical Program Leader to join our technical team at our state-of-the-art research facility, the Chemours Discovery Hub, in Newark, Delaware. The position will report to the Product Growth Manager. This position will support the Thermal & Specialized Solutions business.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead projects related to the development process of the new refrigerants dedicated for several applications including automotive air-conditioning & heat-pump, refrigeration and specialty fluids.
Ability to manage time and resources to get results in the quickest and least costly fashion within limits dictated by maintaining safe operations.
Follow Agile and Lean methodologies in managing innovation programs through the stage gate process. Accountable for the program finishing all related tasks, maintaining documentation & quality assurance per New Product Development (NPD) process, presenting data and recommendations to leadership.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the organization, customers and partners.
Lead open innovation activities, including identification and evaluation of funding opportunities as well as leading the application processes, by actively seeking best partners (governmental bodies, start-ups, foundations, academics, industrial) to accelerate product development process.
Participate in technical conferences, seminars and tradeshows by presenting papers or participating in panels etc. and gather application trends and inputs.
Become a key contact person with the industry and participate in the conversations on system design and optimization to meet evolving market and regulatory needs.
Knowledge or the desire to learn fluorochemical science and related application technologies.
Travel 5-15% of time to customers and partners.
The following is minimally required for this role:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields
2+ years of experience in R&D
Good interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, and the ability to work well with all levels in the organization
Self-motivated, customer focused, and ability to independently achieve results
Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects
Ability to work in a team environment with high degree of initiative and self-motivation and flexibility to monitor and move projects forward quickly and safely
Ability to lead by influence
The following is preferred for this role:
5+ years of experience in R&D
Proven track record of forming and maintaining relationships with key automotive equipment manufacturers
Strong technical background in refrigerant-based applications
Strong background in quality systems including ISO:9001 and IATF 16949
Experience with Microsoft DevOps or other project management tools.
Experience with Stage Gate innovation process.
Demonstrated problem solving ability
PMP® (Project Management Professional) Certification
