technical product manager - Digital Tech (Hybrid- Seattle WA)

We are excited to add a Technical Product Manager role to support Starbucks Rewards Technology team for building a world-class loyalty & rewards platform.

This position contributes to Starbucks success by assuming end-to-end responsibility for the strategic value, usability, and performance of one or more of our loyalty products.  We design, build, and nurture a digital ecosystem that elevates the Starbucks brand and grows our business by amplifying human connections, relationships, and experiences.  

To be successful, the technical product manager needs to have technical acumen and experience along with a passion for delighting product users with simple solutions and engaging digital experiences. You will be valued as a technical subject matter expert among business and engineering partners for your ability to maximize the value of your products and services through thoughtful, data-driven problem solving, crisp definition of MVP solutions, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Product Definition & Value 

Responsible for determining business needs, understanding market demands and technical trends, problem solving and proposing solutions. Contributes and influences product roadmap using data-driven approach Influences decisions by providing technical consultation and direction to stakeholders Recommends new technology trends and innovative products/features to the team Translates customer experience and business strategy requirements into technical requirements Creates data flows and functional and technical specifications as needed Leads product backlog prioritization Responsible for documentation of requirements, and acceptance criteria per process, provides guidance to others in working team

Analysis and KPIs

Defines product health and performance metrics Creates dashboard/reporting requirements and KPIs to measure product performance Measures feature success post deployment and feeds insights back to the team and business partners.

Leadership and Communication

Owns effective relationships with engineering teams across Starbucks Technology Interacts directly with business stakeholders to understand business problems and to communicate ramifications of technical options Presents recommendations clearly and persuasively to support business stakeholder decisions Influences and negotiates with business and technology teams across Starbucks to resolve issues Resolves ambiguity and simplifies product delivery

Product Planning & Delivery

Manages product planning and development through day to day collaboration and decision making with a cross-functional team including architects, developers, designers and business or subject matter representatives Practices iterative, agile development and is well versed with agile methodologies and tools
Identifies and documents technical tradeoffs as well as dependencies and constraints Performs validation of feature against stated goals; facilitates user review/acceptance testing Manages execution and eliminates blocking issues during development Presents recommendations and influences alignment across neighbor ST teams Effective communications of product delivery milestones and progress Contributes to a cross-team roadmap for Rewards


Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Tech Demonstrated ability to use analytics and optimization tools to inform product planning and prioritization (4 years) Product management or ownership experience – (4 years) Hands on experience in developing roadmaps, priorities, features, story outlines, writing user stories, refining product backlogs, and coordinating/prioritizing conflicting requirements in a fast-paced, changing environment with variety of stakeholders (4 years) Ability to thoroughly understand complex business and technical issues and influence decision making Ability to gain deep understanding of the system architecture and design concepts behind complex, enterprise-class software solutions at high transaction volumes Talent for designing future-proof solutions with an eye towards future use cases, scalability, and maintainability. Gift for rooting out ambiguity Ability to build consensus across a diverse group of stakeholders Consistent use of strong verbal and written communication skills to influence outcomes Ability to influence others without authority to get things done in a timely fashion Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.  For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
