Main Duties
Technical Manager - Authorising Engineer working within the Safe systems of Work Team across the UK with potential global travel.
Multiple disciplines to be managed as per below:
HV Electrical LV Electrical Pressure Systems RefrigerationThe Authorising Engineer's roles and duties include, but not limited to, the following:
Carry out AE Audits on relevant systems to applicable HTM, JSP and Mitie standards and upload to the company's portal, follow up and drive actions generated to a suitable and sufficient conclusion. Assess and recommend in writing, sufficient Authorised Persons to provide the necessary cover for all systems and installations within their area for which management has responsibility. Define the exact extent of the systems and installations for which each Authorised Person is responsible and, where appropriate, any part of the system which is excluded from the Authorised Person's responsibilities. If necessary, recommend the suspension or cancellation of the appointment of an Authorised Person and withdraw the Letter of Appointment. Maintain a register of all Authorised Persons. Must ensure that candidates for appointment as Authorised Persons: satisfy the qualification requirements, satisfy the training and familiarisation requirements, can demonstrate adequate knowledge of each system, installation, and type of equipment for which authorisation is sought, satisfy the Coordinating Authorising Engineer as to their competence and ability. Following assessment of the nominated person, the Authorising Engineer will issue to each Authorised Person a Letter of Appointment valid for a period not exceeding three years. Carry out audits on the APs at yearly intervals to ensure full compliance with Mitie procedures and policies. Report to Senior Leadership Team any deficiency in the number of suitably trained and experienced Authorised Persons where this significantly impairs management's ability to provide a safe and efficient service. Review each Authorised Person's operational experience at intervals not exceeding 12 months by examining the relevant operating records of the system(s) under their control, auditing paperwork, appointments of competent persons carried out and recommend refresher training as necessary. Maintain the Authorising Engineers Diary. Provide support to the Authorised Persons, where required, and will assist them where necessary in the production of Safe Systems of Work for their appointed activity of authorisation. To assist in the technical training and development of staff. Maintain competence in their area of authorisation and keep abreast of changes in current practice by attending the relevant Technical Forums, completion of training and reading relevant technical publications. They will keep themselves informed of changes within Legislation, Codes of Practice, Industry Guidance, and best practice generally. Any observations, alerts or technical bulletins identified by them shall be communicated to all relevant teams within Mitie. Investigate all dangerous occurrences involving equipment, systems, and installations for which the Authorising Engineer is responsible. Ensure that a system is in place to circulate relevant information on operational restrictions and dangerous occurrences to all Authorised Persons. The Authorising Engineer is to undertake a comprehensive audit of the safe systems of work and safety procedures. Separate audits are to be carried out for each site or geographical area to which the Authorising Engineer has been appointed. A written report of the audit is to be completed listing satisfactory items seen and any deficiencies found, with recommendations made. This is to be issued to an Authorised Person for action as necessary. A copy of the report with a summary of the findings will be issued to the central database. To carry out technical inspections and condition reporting of assets as required. Assist in creating a set of year-on-year continuous improvement objectives in line with the overall TST strategy. Undertake any delegated authority. Willing to travel extensively, both in the UK and overseas. The ability to be part of a team in a complex fast-moving business and deliver business targets in tight timeframes.What we are looking for Recognised qualifications in relevant disciplines. Can demonstrate experience in contractual and operational environments. Can demonstrate experience as an Authorising Engineer in relevant disciplines. Proven track record of managing teams. Sound knowledge and demonstration of all aspects of Safe Systems of Work and Health & safety. Strong technical skills across all disciplines. Strong IT and reporting skills through use of all Microsoft Tools. Good analytical skills and ability to read trends through large data sets.

Health and Safety responsibilities
· Always follow Group and company policies and procedures.
· Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.
· Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
· Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager.
Information Security
· Ensure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities.
· Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager.
· Report actual and suspected security incidents.
Note:
This role may require high level security clearance and as such may not fall under the rehabilitation of offenders act.
