As a CoStar Technical Manager on the Platform Development team you will play a key role in expanding the data platform that supports all of CoStar Group’s largest brands including Homes.com, CoStar Suite, LoopNet and Apartments.com. You will deeply understand what drives the business for which you are building software. We firmly believe that what separates a good developer from a great one is a deep understanding of the business that they are supporting.
This position is located in Arlington, VA and is in office Monday through Thursday and work from home on Friday.
Responsibilities
Lead an Agile software development team (approximately 5-7 people); Lead Scrum ceremonies; Deliver done-done features to customers at high velocityAct as a player-coach, who can mentor & coach team members into highly productive team playersPromotion of a can-do attitude, engineering mindset and collaboration as fundamental team valuesInfluence API architecture and CI/CD pipeline improvementsDrive continuous improvement by focusing on engineering excellenceTranslate business requirements into technical requirements, develop project plans and work schedules for use by scrum development teamSuccessfully implement software development projects to specification and within scheduled timelinesCollaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Agile teams to develop a roadmap and deliver on large initiativesWork with the recruiting team to hire and onboard top industry talentDevelop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the CRE Industry and CoStar’s business modelContinually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices to strengthen CoStar’s technology platform and development practicesAdopt an owner-operator mindset and demonstrate full ownership of the product and technical platformsAct as the "Voice of the Customer" when participating in product readiness reviewsBasic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college A track record of commitment to prior employers 7+ years of relevant development experience3+ years’ experience in modern web and database technologies3+ years’ experience building large distributed, API-driven systems2+ years of experience leading Agile Team(s)Demonstrated expert knowledge of Object Oriented Programming and design patternsSolid experience with the following technologies; C#, .NET Core, and SQL ServerExperience leading technical teams, working through complex requirements and offering relevant, timely technical solutionsStrong written and verbal communication skills; Must be able to communicate at a level appropriate to the audience (direct reports, peers and senior management)Excellent team building, negotiation and consensus building abilitiesPreferred Qualifications And Skills
Cloud Development experience (AWS is preferred)Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, MongoDB or ElasticsearchExperience with relational databases (MS SQL Server is preferred)Experience with Docker and container orchestrationCommercial Real Estate (CRE) knowledge is a bonusWhat’s in it for You
